St Mary’s N.S are proud to participate in the Green Schools programme. This programme was established by An Taisce to promote environmental awareness amongst primary and secondary school students throughout Ireland and to encourage them to actively participate in environmental issues.
Our Green Team is committed to promoting green school initiatives in our school. The team is student-led. It is made up of students from Junior Infants to 6th class, teachers and our school secretary.
To date St. Mary’s have successfully achieved 6 green flags. We have flags for;
- Litter and Waste
- Energy
- Water
- Travel
- Biodiversity
- Global Citizenship - Litter and Waste.
We are currently pursuing our 7th flag - Global Citizenship - Energy.
