Student Council

In St, Mary’s we recognise the importance of the student voice throughout the school. Our Student Council gives our students a voice within our school community. The girls on the Student Council are elected to the council by their peers from 2nd class to 6th class. They meet as a group every fortnight to discuss matters of interest to them and to come up with different ideas for events taking place in the school.

A suggestion box is used in each class from 2nd to 6th to generate ideas. The class reps then bring their class suggestions to a council meeting. The suggestions are discussed, minutes kept and a plan of action implemented in collaboration with teachers.

The student council has raised funds for P.E equipment, picnic benches in the yard, literacy resources and local charities.
